The president of the Central African Republic (CAR), Faustin-Arkange Touadera, announced plans to tokenize the country’s natural resources.
According to the document, the Sango project will give access to tokenized assets to companies associated with the crypto industry and “creating a presence in the country.”
The CAR has substantial natural resources – deposits of diamonds, uranium, gold and oil. It is one of the poorest countries on the black continent and the world as a whole. In terms of GDP per capita at PPP, the CAR ranks third from the bottom of the rankings at $1040 (World Bank 2020 data). Only Somalia and Burundi are worse.
